Royal Assam is one of the best Assams we have tasted in over a decade. It is a limited production hand crafted tea grown and produced from special cultivars in the central highlands of Taiwan. The long open twisted dark leaf yields a remarkably rich brew that is full bodied with hints of plum.

It has a lingering mouth feel and is so good we do not rcommend any additives like milk or sugars as one might with other Assams.

The 500 gm (17.6 oz) factory package is a great value.

Has a subtle fruitiness to it. I find that brewing it at a lower temperature (like 175) preserves the complexity. Normal temps obliterate the unique scent and flavor in my experience. It's still good, but more like a standard good black tea.

Fantastic Tea, inaccurate name.

My favorite tea that is available for purchase in North America! Complexity combines with richness and the traditional compatibility with milk. Personally I also love to freeze some and add an equal portion of milk for a cold summer treat that stimulates and still the classic Assam style flavor comes through.
One note however: Calling a tea from Taiwan an Assam is like calling a sparkling wine product from Napa Champaign --- it may be as good or better, but it is not actually an Assam tea. It is a fantastic Taiwanese tea with deep connections to Assam. Maybe I am being too picky, but it bothers Aaron, and that is never the right thing to do.
